A Floor Option

There is a flooring option that provides a wealth of advantages making it a flooring type that is quickly growing in popularity. It’s laminate flooring and it’s high on my personal agenda for a new floor solution.

Laminate flooring is the flooring option with tremendous versatility at an affordable price. It gives you a durable, hard wearing surface that can take heavy traffic.

A few tips are important to make sure the floor remains in great shape. Never flood the laminate floor with water, don’t use soap-based detergents because they will leave a dull finish on the floor, don’t use abrasive cleaners, steel wool or a scouring pad as they could scratch the floor, never wax or polish a laminate floor and try to have a doormat outside the entrance to your home to avoid dirt, sand and grit from being tracked onto the floor.

There are some very nice laminate floors being manufactured by some of the top companies and it pays to shop around for a color and style that best suits you. A strong example with which to start is something from Mannington laminate flooring.

Flooring For A New Kitchen

It’s almost over, the saga of the new kitchen is coming to an end. It just needs a new floor to complement the new look. After weighing things up I am strongly considering going for a laminate floor over a real tile floor.

Some may hesitate before putting in laminate thinking it’s not hard wearing or that it doesn’t look as good as the real thing. But the surface of a laminate floor is supposed to be around 10 to 20 times more resistant to scratching than counter laminate. It’s incredibly hardwearing and for this reason it has become one of the most popular choices for flooring with numerous companies around the world manufacturing the stuff.

Laminate floor comes in a range of designs and finishes. It may resemble a tiled finish or wooden floorboards. It consists of a decorative plastic-laminate top surface that is bonded to a ¼ inch core of particleboard or MDF. On the underside of the core is a moisture-resistant layer of paper or laminate.

Some advantages of laminate flooring is that it can be installed straight over an existing floor as long as the floor is already flat. It is virtually stainproof and can’t be burned by cigarettes. In fact, it will withstand most bumps, knocks and abrasions applied to it for a long time. There are companies who will perform a laminate floor restoration for you and there are also tips available on how to rejuvenate the floor if it gets too nicked or cut up.

All in all, I think my new floor will look quite swish.
